Inspections are necessary to ensure that the establishments observe the laws that regulate them. For a number of years, every Government entity used to send its inspectors to conduct the required inspections in their respective area. This used to result in several inspections in the same establishment and it was creating an inconvenience to the owners.
A reform in the way the inspections are conducted by Government entities was needed. In 2017, the Coordination of Government Inspections Act (Cap. 568) was enacted and the Office that Coordinates Inspections was set up to see that these inspections become more structured and transparent.
