Improving Energy Efficiency with the People and Standards Division – Office of the Prime Minister

This project which is partly financed by European funds under the Operational Programme I, Cohesion Policy 2014-2020 “Fostering a Competitive and Sustainable Economy”. The aim of this Project was to increase carbon neutrality by promoting energy efficiency in public infrastructure and minimise the release of Carbon Dioxide (CO2) in the atmosphere. This Project was completed, simultaneously with the addition of the 4th floor at Castille Place, Valletta to host the Employee Support Program Unit.

With the completion of this project, the Castille Place building is using less energy from fossil fuels with the installation of the double-glazed apertures, roof insulation and the installation of LED lighting to the new build floor. Hence, less energy is required to reach thermal comfort. Therefore, the project is reducing dependency on fossil fuels which indirectly will provide energy savings cost. Furthermore, with less CO2 in the atmosphere, it results in better air quality for all the residents of Malta.
