The Conditions of Service Unit within the People Relations Directorate plays a central role in formulating and monitoring policies, regarding the employment conditions, benefits and related obligations of public officers.

The unit serves as a first line of contact to line Ministries and entities on issues related to payment of allowances, overtime, equal opportunity in employment, hours of work, leave entitlements including vacation leave, sick leave and special leaves, as well as work-life balance measures, and modern work practices.

This office also deals with requests for the release  of public employees to work with Trade Unions and Voluntary Organisations.​​

In order to monitor compliance and ensure adherence to the policies and regulations related to people management and conditions of employment, the unit carries out regular compliance checks across line Ministries.
